Folic acid deficiency

Symptoms

Reluctant to feed
Fish comes to eat but with evident lack of appetite.
Abdomen swollen
Lower body of fish is bloated and swollen to a considerable degree.
Exophthalmia - bilateral
Both eyeballs of fish are protruding.
Gills pale
Instead of a normal bright red colour the gills are very pale in colour.
Listless and lethargic
Fish moves very lazily in water, much less than normal, lacks interest.
Dark skin pigmentation (Skin)
Emaciation
Fish is fading away, looks as if it is starving to death.
Loss of gill tissue

Causes

Dietary deficiency of Folic acid.

Prognosis

If correctly diagnosed will give excellent prognosis.
