Pox virus (<i>Epithelioma papulosum</i>)

Symptoms

Listless and lethargic
Fish moves very lazily in water, much less than normal, lacks interest.
Stops feeding
Fish often stop feeding entirely 
Hyperplastic growth on fins
Large amounts of surplus white tissue grow on the fins forming a large white mass.
Jaundice
Yellowing  of skin & mucous membrane 
Red/grey raised spots
Red/grey spots can be seen raised over the body.
White raised spots (1-2mm)
White raised spots of 1-2mm are apparent all over body and fins.
Abnormal swimming - streaks
Fish swims in short bursts, then stops.

Causes

Viral infection as named above. Also called cyprinid herpesvirus. This is a benign infection, rarely fatal.

Prognosis

No known cure but remission often takes place spontaneously, after a period of time.
