Ulcer disease

Symptoms

Epidermal hyperplasia
Excessive growth on skin.
Ulcers - irregular
Irregular shaped ulcers are evident on the skin.
Fins rotting very quickly
Erosion of fins takes place within a day or so.
Fuzzy growth
Secondary fungal cotton wool like growths 
Open red sores
Red lesions show punched out appearance which expand 
Ulcers with Necrotic edges
The border of the ulcer develops a ring of dead tissue 
Listless and lethargic
Fish moves very lazily in water, much less than normal, lacks interest.
Reddish inflammation
Around the wound caused by the parasite, there is a bloody inflamed area
Scale losses
Patches of missing scales 
Ulcers - in mouth
The mouth area shows one or more obvious ulcers.
Haemorrhages - skin
Bloody haemorrhages are apparent over several parts of the skin.
Knotlike white pimples - skin
Skin shows a number of knotlike white raised pimples.
Scales protruding
The scales are raised outwardly protruding.
Raised blister
Blister-like nodules appear above the skin.
Shallow white rimmed ulcers
The skin shows one or more shallow, and white rimmed, ulcers.

Causes

Bacteria originaly  identified in 1950 by Snyeszko as Haemophilus piscium, later relabeled as atypical Aeromonas salmonicida. A later DNA comparison showed 99.8% similarity against  Aeromonas bestiarum. Typically infects Trout. This bacteria is very similar in symptoms to aeromonas spp. and pseudomonas spp.

Prognosis

Unchecked can cause many losses, treated early good outlook can be expected.
